Derek Hess

"A l'âge de 15ans, il est influencé par les dessins de guerre fait par son père vétéran de la deuxième guerre mondiale, et un peu plus tard chef du département de design industriel à Cleveland Institute of Art. Il possède aujourd'hui, une ligne de vêtements appelée "Strhess Clothing" et de nombreux autres travaux, notamment des affiches et des pochettes/jaquettes pour des groupes de musiques "Rock hardcore".

Derek Hess à travers ses performances artistiques, utilise la peinture acrylique, le stylo, et l'encre pour développer ses thèmes au niveau social, culturel, métaphysique, politique ou humain. En effet, il déclare : "C'est certain que je porte beaucoup de mes propres soucis, mes propres fardeaux, comme tout le monde d'ailleurs. [...] Ces problèmes sont surtout spécifiques à moi, ce sont mes bagages. Mais je pense qu'il y'a également un trés grand fardeau universel qui règne partout autour de nous et en nous. Quand les gens s'identifient à mon art, il se peut que se soit d'un point de vue social ou simplement qu'ils attachent leurs propres problèmes à l'image". En effet, on peut supposé une sorte d'"identification universelle", d'où l'absence de "visage" .

Les œuvres de D.Hess dépeignent l'homme moderne, dépouillé de sa chair avec son âme exposée dans toute sa vulnérabilité mais aussi dans toute sa force: Une âme qui possède encore l'habilitée de se redresser et de se diriger vers de meilleurs jours malgré tous les obstacles."


"Derek Hess is an American artist based in Cleveland, Ohio. His creative career grew largely out of his ability to express the emotion in the indie, hardcore and hard rock scenes of the mid-1990s. His posters are known for humor and irony, with the subject matter frequently using the name of the band as inspiration.

His work is well known to devotees of album cover art and concert flyer art. He has produced artwork for musicians such as Pantera, Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, Season to Risk, Poison the Well, The Cows, The Reverend Horton Heat, NOFX, In Flames, From Autumn to Ashes, Methods of Mayhem, Converge, Before Their Eyes and many more."

Michael Kenna is an English photographer known for his landscapes.
Kenna's photography focuses on unusual landscapes with ethereal light achieved by photographing at dawn or at night with exposures of up to 10 hours. His work has been shown in galleries and museum exhibitions in Asia, Australia, Europe and the United States. He also has photographs included in the collections of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Patrimoine photographique in Paris, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In 2000, the Ministry of Culture in France made Kenna a Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters.
